After the snow adventure on January 11 on the Veluwe, a thaw set in. On January 12 it was drizzly and gray, but we still wanted a winter activity. It was also a study day, so the kids were off school. So we drove to De Scheg in Deventer for an afternoon of ice skating.
De Scheg: covered ice rink in Deventer
De Scheg is a covered ice rink in Deventer, designed by the architectural firm Alberts en Van Huut. The complex offers, in addition to an ice rink, also a subtropical swimming pool and various sports halls. It is a recreation center that is open all year round.
From Holiday Park De Woeste Hoogte, De Scheg in Deventer is about half an hour's drive, making it a great trip for an afternoon or morning.
Our experience
On that drizzly day we decided to go to De Scheg. We rented skates at the reception. There are different types available (such as figure skates and speed skates) and multiple sizes.
On the ice rink it was pleasantly busy, but not too crowded. There were both experienced skaters and beginners. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
After skating for a while, we took a break and enjoyed a hot chocolate with whipped cream.
